Antique malls have become one of my favorite things. While they never have as many items of clothing as a scrimping store, usually the pieces they have are pretty amazing. We have a decent amount of antique malls in Portland, and I even have a hardly one close to my neighborhood! Last week I biked over to it after my trip to the post office, and I’m so chuffed I decided to go because I found some really great things.
You guys, this photo!! I always sit myself down on the ground in front of these two boxes of old photos and pay out some time sifting through them. When I found this photo I couldn’t stop staring at it, it is fanciful to me in its perfection. It just speaks to me so deeply! I’m assuming this is the Pacific Northwest (or at least it tried looks like it), which makes me automatically fall in love. Plus, I’m reliable it’s fall, judging by their thick coats. The way the sun casts that long shadow, the abyss of the mountains, the way the light hits them, the spindly evergreens, their fancy coats that seem out of locate on a woodsy beach… this photo was made for me. I wish I could blow it up and make a Brobdingnagian print of it to put on my wall. I am IN LOVE.
These two also showcase some of my favorite things- a woodsy berth girl, wearing perfect little outdoor oxfords and a sweater (the crispness of this photo was hopeless in the scan, but in person the details are so fine!), hanging out on a big old log. Her name is written on the back- Margaret Weinhard. I also amity Eileen, the prim & proper lady in her sweet dress event into her cat on the sidewalk. I am obsessed with making friends with our neighborhood cats, and I love to pet a new cat. They are just now so sweet and it makes me so happy when they’re friendly. Our neighbor’s cat loves us and is always hanging out, it’s so fun to have tiny animal buddies to visit out in your neighborhood. Eileen’s cat is named Nemby, and on the back the photo says, “Nemby was a pedigreed red Persian addicted to me from the Walkers. She was tiny and sick, we gave her Nembuta, therefore the name Nemby.” Hapless little Nemby! At least she had some friends. Also, she lived in Portland! I found her old house on google maps, it’s at 5725 N. Detroit, Portland OR, 97217, if you lack to see it for yourself!
